Dear Younger Me #DearMe

Why, hello there, Mikie from the past. I don't want to freak you out but I'm Mikie from the future. We're probably 10 or more years apart but I know you will understand. Because you've always been good at this. Listening to your elders. This is all the things I wish you knew. But for some unfortunate reason, you won't. Anyways, at some point in your life you would be able to realize this all on your own anyways.

From wherever you are now, I want you to know that it does get better. Elementary school, Meh. Sure you get bullied now here and there for how you look, how you speak, and what you are. Bullied for things you can't even change yourself. But guess what, 10 years from now, you will not be dealing with those bullies anymore. Because you'll gonna be studying in a prestigious university and they would be out of sight. Just like what you've imagined. There's no people of their kind in your future. I suggest that you shake it off. Be patient.

Girl, high school is gonna be a big playground. At this point, no more bullies. Yay! You're gonna excel!! Like, two to three quarters of each year level. Then you're gonna realize you're not really into Maths and get out of the honor roll. You're gonna be okay. You always do your best and then you don't. It's just you. You're more of a science girl by the way. Except Chemistry. You will not understand a thing about chem. Asa ka pa, girl. Talking boys, you're gonna have a lot of crushes in High School. To be honest, you're gonna be too much. But it's okay. You're not gonna be able to do that in college anyways. Ooops. You will have amazing friends in High School. In fact, you will be friends with them until college and actually, potentially forever. You will realize that the biggest achievement you will receive is friendship. You will then connect your circles and your bestfriend will somehow be bestfriends with your other bestfriend. It will be awesome!

You will take two college entrance exams. First in UST. Then CEU. I know that you will find UST testing rooms too cold for comfort and you will struggle to answer the reading comprehension part and the proctor will actually tell you to pass the papers even though you've only just answered what seems to be 10 items but I want you to relax. Take it easy. CEU will be easier for you because after USTET, you will be locking yourself with all your review materials and study. Actually study. And yes, I know you will be dreading to know USTET results but I want to you to know that you're gonna do just fine. You will be a Thomasian.

Thanking me for my good news yet? College, huh? Don't even get me started with college, girl. It will be one heck of a ride. By the way, as much as you wanted to be a nurse, you won't be studying that. Mommy wouldn't want you to be one. Surprise! I wish you knew you would be studying Medical Technology. But you won't be informed until you're a junior. Good luck! You'll be able to accept it overnight don't worry.

In college, you will meet friends who are of the same level as you are. Mature people with the same level of intellect. Well, girl, you're probably not as intelligent as them but you know! You get what I mean, right? You will be very grateful for them. Imagine 3 years of your life together? In one class? You'll be glad that it's them you're gonna be with. You will hate Chemistry (despite of it being your major subject). I wish you will take it seriously but you actually wouldn't. But you'll survive. There will be times when you would regret your choices but hey, it's gonna be okay. It's alright to fail. You will rise again.

After the crazy ride of the school stuff, you will then experience Internship. Imagine applying all your knowledge with real people in a real setting? It's gonna be epic!! Do or die. Literally. You will gonna gain new friends. You will be friends with professionals like yourself.
Oh and don't get me started with thesis. I know that you will dread this forever but guess what? You will nail it! Thanks to your group's unity. Then comes graduation. You will be so proud of yourself. And then you will be ready for the real world.

After two months of extensive review, you will be able to pass the board exam. You will doubt yourself after answering the board exam but don't you worry child. Congratulations, dear. Your first work as a professional will be at a place you saw when you were a freshie in college. Imagine! After like, 4 long years, you still were able to get the job? You will meet amazing people here. And not so amazing people. But it's alright. You will learn to brush it off.

This is where I leave you, younger self. Leave your worries. Because come on! There's really nothing you have to worry about. I've been thru all of your worries and meh. I suggest we go thru to the rest of our lives together. Until we meet again.
