Beauty and the Beast 2017 Movie Ramblings

La Bella e la Bestia. I know it doesn't show here until April 21st so don't even tell me how you think I was able to watch it because you know you would be right.

false alarm

I honestly don't know how I feel about it. I'm confused. Maybe because I know the story by heart and that I'm no longer surprised? And then here I am kind of already looking forward and already complaining because rumor has it that they're changing something about MULAN. People can't be contented, can't they? Okay back to my Beauty and the Beast review. See, they fixed a lot of glitches from the animated film that it made me think this live film is suitable not only for kids but for those who are older as well. Or you know, critical audiences that complain a lot how it's not like the original. Or those people with zero imagination power. This film incorporated details that a child may have already imagined (or not) before. Beauty and the Beast is not my favorite Disney story so you know you can't really expect anything great from my review. But despite all the (kind of) bad things that I have said, I still liked the cinematography and all. It's not a lame movie at all. I think they did justice to the story. I think it's beautifully done.

Emma Watson will always be Hermione Granger in my heart but I'd definitely give her this one. There's something about her that makes Belle different from the other typical princesses. The gown she wore is breathtaking! Also, Beast looked fancy in this film.

If there's anything that I really really liked in this film, It'd be the addition of Belle's mother's backstory who died in Paris from the plague. I mean, it's a short and dark story but still. I feel happy that she was able to see that part of her life. Now please hand me the Enchantress' book and let me go in the great wide somewhere. Ciao!

Flowers and Blooms

There are two things in Japan that I am always looking forward to. Sakura and Illuminations. Earlier this month, I got a chance to see at least 10 Sakura trees in full bloom and I couldn't be more thankful. Of course it's nothing compared to Nakameguro, Ueno, and somewhere else (yet!) but it was so glorious! I actually remember last year, about February, it was for already showing some action so I guess that trees here in general bloom earlier than others.

Oh how I wish I had somebody take pictures but this will do, aye? I guess I'd be the photographer from now on. #duties!

Sakura
happy me
hey there little one

Also, can I just mention that I rode my bike from my apartment to our house to this park. Man, somebody give me a medal or something. And l brought a lot of things with me so that added weight to my already heavy self. Also, Google Maps made me go thru this mountain high road and I was like, no! Before that road, I kind of knew the way from there but I was like, you kidding me, Google Maps? Am I wrong or something? So I followed Google Maps anyways because they seem like a very reliable company that I am anyways. The way I know is not as dramatic as this road they're leading me into. Story of my life in general. Anyways.

I got there and it was beautiful as expected. Childhood! I'm so glad that after 25 years, I'm still in love with this place. There were quite a lot of people for a Tuesday afternoon. Lots of kids in the playground. They also had an exhibit at the greenhouse that so happy I checked because it was so gorgeous!

Also, I noticed that the fountains were on and I was like, what? Are they doing fountains now? So being the nosey person I am, I asked the lady standing there and she was like, oh we're shooting a drama for NHK and I was like, can I go in? And she was like, it's okay! Just be careful when crossing the ramp. So yeah I went in and 2 handsome guy was about to cross the ramp for a scene and I guess they were surprised to see me and I was like, dedma! So yeah there's that. Ciao!

Quarter Life Crisis

relevant because this is my childhood bedroom here in Japan

Well assuming I'd live for about 75 years more, I think I'm having a quarter life crisis. I turned 25 last month and I'm honestly in a little bit of a panic. Also, I think you should know that I spelled panic like panick. Whut? I was like, is panick a work? Hahaha. Anyways, I'm just so pressured that I am somehow behind my timeline. Don't get me wrong though, there are still a lot of things that I am ahead (kind of) of my timeline. And for that, I'm really thankful. But do we really need a timeline? What for? Who are we trying to impress? After all the nonesense of building a timeline, I still think that we do need to somehow construct how we want our lives to be. For example, when I was a child, if things were according to my timeline, I'd already be married by now. In a church somewhere. My teenage self would have seen me as a doctor at 25. My early 20's self would have seen me already out of Japan at 25. But look at where I am. Not married nor a doctor nor out of Japan. But I wouldn't have it any other way. Or so I would like to think. There are two things about broken timeline. DISAPPOINTMENT and CHANCE. Disappointment. If there's anything that I'm disappointed for, It'd be me not yet out of Japan. Because I'm happy I'm not yet married at 25. I mean, no offense to those who are married at a much younger age but what do we know at 25? I guess there's a reason why we graduate college at 22. It seems like the right age to think of the future. Also, I'm not really sure if I wanted to be a doctor which would really be a tragedy had I graduated medicine by now. And chance. A chance to rebuild broken dreams and a chance to make it better.

Well the real question is, is 25 years old, old? I don't know. But it's definitely not young. It's the time when you can already have it your way and no one would think that you're doing it out of incompetence and lack of experience. When I was watching a Korean drama called Hello, My Twenties, one person there is 24 years old, my favorite, and she quit her job as a prostitute and started art school to become a fashion designer where her classmates are preschoolers. But she persisted! She was so crappy at drawing at first but at the end of the episode, she was filmed drawing it perfectly already. So you know, that's my girl!

The short-haired girl is also my girl but she's kind of weird but you know, we kind of have something in common so whatever and weird is good! If anything, I'm probably just not as wild.

So here's how it all started. When I was inviting the people I have to invite, they were asking my age, right? And then they were like, "you're old!" "I can't believe you're 25!" "you don't need a man at that age anymore" FML! I guess that's so in the early 90s! I mean, professionals are now being smart marrying someone because they want to establish themselves first before settling to something as permanent as marriage. I mean, gone were the days when people are not college educated and gets married in vain after high school. You know what I mean? It's a professional world now. It's a new world we're living and it's the world I'm in so I'm not really concerned about that. Also, it seems like I'm contradicting myself (like I always do) so Imma stop now before I make a fool out of myself more. Ciao!

Netflix Suggestions

BloggerImage
All of these I already finished watching the latest episode/season so I guess I can give my insights? It's not gonna be helpful for most of y'all but I like re-reading this kind of stuff a year or so after I post them. It reminds me that somehow, it's just an urge of the moment. Well that's another story but hey!

Terrace House (Aloha State/Boys and Girls in the City)

So addicted to this. This is sooo much better than Big Brother because you can just be whoever you want to be. That doesn't mean PBB is not real but it is  somehow contained/controlled you know. They make situations where they know what will happen next more or less. In Terrace house, you just got yourself a wonderful house, and 2 cars but you can still live your life. You can still have your own phone and all that except you're being watched. Keeping Up With the Kardashians vibe? Kind of like that except that they're less annoying. Just kidding! For some reason, I like the Kardashians. No hate! Shida Mizuki is my girl from Boys and Girls in the City! Like, she's younger than I am but I feel like our way of thinking is the same. To be honest, I didn't like Ohata Arisa from the show but I feel like I'm liking her now that she's outside. Lauren Tsai's fate though is kind of meh but she's 18! It's no biggie! I guess that kind of thing happens. I don't have a favorite person in Aloha State, I think. I used to like Avian but she's kind of becoming bitchy, I think. I think I liked Naomi the best but she already left. I feel 50/50 towards Anna so yeah. I don't even know why I'm addicted to the show.

Series of Unfortunate Events

Oh my my. This one is depressing to watch. But for some reason, I can't stop watching it. If you like misery, darkness, and unhappy endings, it's a good watch! It's oh-so-satisfying! But also, it sounds less serious than it is. But depressing anyways.

Santa Clarita Diet

This my friends is a good show for people who are on a diet! You know, I usually eat my food while watching my shows, but I just can't eat whilst watching this. Gross!!! Like, I can't!

Riverdale

High school life. Only darker. Also, can I just say that I kind of like Cheryl Blossom's character? It is just so edgy. I used to like Veronica Lodge but meh. Also, Archie. Yas. Also, I'm not a high schooler so pedophile alert.

Hello, My Twenties

Can't get more real! It's a Korean series I happen to stumble upon and I was like, yas! It made me want to catch a plane to Korea. I mean, it's been a year! Anyways, this is a story about 5 girls who live in a share house in Korea and then they show how their lives are all different and that at some point, the same. Makes me want to live in a share house to be honest. As much as I appreciate and value my independence, I just want to experience dealing with people for a while. Maybe when I go to the States. Who knows? As for my favorite character, Kang unnie! Maybe because of her attitude and fighting spirit. Also, she's 24 so I feel like I can connect to her the most.

That's about it, guys! That's what I've been watching lately. Also, I've just started watching Gossip Girl. Don't judge! Ciao! X.O.X.O!

Shibuhide Ramen Review

As you can see (or not) from my long hair, I've started this quest quite a while back and I just finished it recently. Yay!

I learned about this place from my favorite blogger Xiaxue's Instagram and I was like, must go!! So glad that it's on the way! Can't thank Tokyo work enough! It's quite hard to find for those who are not familiar with Shibuya but you know, just have to look out for it!

Around Christmas Time
Shibuhide Ramen

This is the best ramen that I had here and everywhere else for that matter! This is heaven in a bowl! That 3 layers of fat! I loved! And! It got everything you could ever ask for in a ramen. This is like 5/5 in my book! This is quite a surprise.

Tontoro Ramen

For some reason, I didn't enjoy this as much. It's so fatty!!!!! I don't really know if it's just a bad bowl or something but yeah I hardly (I did!) finished this one.

Kakuna Ramen

This also! Too fatty for me. Didn't even enjoy that 3 layers of fatty goodness anymore. I don't know. It's just me, I guess.

Karai Tonkotsu

This one is okay. Like I told you, I'm not the type who just give up on things so I was like, maybe if it's a little spicy, won't be that fatty. My goodness it wasn't that fatty but it was hella spicy and I was like, same difference. So yeah, I suggest you try the Shibuhide Ramen because man, that alone made me want to go back despite the other ramen not being "that good". Ciao!
